Status Report - Light Posts
r.. Bonvie reported he has contacted his structural
engineer with a detailed proposal, which has -been stamped,
retitled "Southport on Gape Cod, Light Dole Embedment
ent
Details, dated 08111104, Coastal Engineering Co. , Inc. "
Mr. Bonv'ie stated the wood poles continue to be very
important. to the builder and that he is prepared to expend
the necessary monies. He feels the improvements will
increase the durability and safety of the poles .
Said proposal has been submitted to Gail Barnes,
representing the unit owners, and notice of tonight' s
Planning Board meeting ha-s been posted at Southport; unit
owners have been encouraged to attend and participate.
Mr. Bonvie explained the necessity to have the new
poles galvanized with steel -after con'st-ruction for
preservation measures. Any replacement poles would receive
the same treatment. F
Dennis Balarini inquired and expressed concern
regarding communication between I . Bonvie and the unit
owners in this matter.
Mr. Bonvie reiterated the presentation of the proposal
to Gail Barnes and the posting of the Planning Board
Meeting.
The Town Planner stated there has been no actual
meeting between the developer and the unit owners .
Mr. Bonvie expressed his opinion acknowledging the
fact that the unit owners prefer fiberglass poles; but that
his preference is for wood and that he is prepared to
expend a substantial amount of monies in order to maintain
the wood poles. He spoke to longevity and safety issues i
connection with the specific improvements .
There was brief explanation of wiring./replacement
wiring. The additional issue of placement of the bolt
(through the center of pole) is to be addressed by the
structural engineer. When completed, Mr. Bonvie promised a
stamped copy to the Building Inspector and Planning Board.
5
i
