made by the consulting Engineer, approving the removal of
trees in the field. The issue for discussion is those
trees that have been damaged due to construction/equipment
and the fact that they were not properly protected by snow
fencing as' requested by the Board. H also stated that
there are serious concerns regarding grade/contour iss:ues
and discrepancies between conditions in the field -and those
shown- on the plans .
The Chairman tools this opportunity to speak directl.y-
to
the Developer and his representatives who were present
regarding the strong feelings that the Planning Board has
to protect and sage as many trees in any development as
possible. The Board insists that any and all construction
be completed in such a way, including the use of snow
fencing, that healthy trees would not be damaged in any
way.
r. Bonvie -spoke to the suggestions made, stating one-
foot contours would be helpful . He also stated that the
approved plans clearly depict the s bst-antial grade change
in the areas where the subject trees are located.
Mr. Bonvie then stated that it had been erroneously
thought that the suggested use of snow fencing was for the
protection of the trees only, not undergrowth. After the
fencing had been installed, they were removed for
landscaping purposes . He stated that he is now fully aware
that said snow fencing is to remain intact after
landscaping has been completed in order to protect the
under growth as well . He ,a,c know l edged the snow fencing had
been removed toe soon and should have remained in place
until such time as grass has been established.
The Chairman then opened the discussion to members of
the Public recognizing the following speakers :
Mr. Maloney, 18 Driver Lane -- spore to the large pine
trees located behind his property and the possibility of
damage to his house in the event of a storm. H requested
Board approval for removal of said trees in order to
prevent damage to his property. He requested Planning
Board consideration of this safety issue.
Mr. Maloney also suggested that said trees should have
been removed by the Developer at the time these buildings
were constructed, suggesting the financial responsibility
1
