There being no further Board comment, the Chairman <br />recognized zella Elizenberry, representing the Affordable <br />Housing Committee. <br />Ms. Elizenberry stated her support of the proposed <br />Article, as written. However, she agreed some valid points <br />had been made in the letter addressed earlier, expressing <br />interest in further review/discussions. <br />Where being no further Board or Public comment, the <br />Chairman entert-a-ined a motion. <br />Article 20 submitted by Petition, to allow <br />advertisement of a business that could not be seen from the <br />road. <br />The Chairman recognized Jeff Fields, lead petitioner <br />of the Article being proposed, who explained the thrust of <br />the Article is to allow -business- within Commercial and <br />Industrial Districts to advert-ise business than cannot be <br />seen from the road. Be mentioned Echo Road, Nicoletta Way, <br />Industrial Drive, and Bowden Road. <br />_ Mr,: -Fields spore to. the -fact th-at -lsines-es--that a,re- <br />not risible from the road do not have the opportunity to <br />thrive; from a safety standpoint, it could prove to be <br />dangerous to the public trying to locate a business without <br />proper signage/direction; and that aesthetically for the <br />Town, regulated signage would be preferable for consistency <br />and enforcement. <br />number of the Selectmen and the Chamber of Commerce <br />support this proposed Article, as well as an (unofficial <br />petition with approximately 100 signatures urging Mashpee <br />Planning Board support. <br />Mr. Fields spore briefly regarding the benefits for <br />his business and those of other businesses as well.
