The existing paving varies from 15 to 18 to 20-. wide, there has been some water line
work done by the water Department nt where the pavement has been cut into.
The Town Planner stated the road had originally been built 0--i. wide and paved.
The water District cut the pavement. in order to install: the water line along the side of the
road which resulted in. a narrowing of the pavement which was never rpaved. As a
result, the vegetation has grown in and the original condition of 20- ft. now vari es from 1
to 20-ft. vide:
Applicant is proposing an 18-f. vide road, which would require a waiver from
the 20-ft. paging requirements. He asked why the width of 18-ft. is being proposed rather
than - .
Mr. Eddy responded that this is the width being proposed by the Applicant. when
the 20. ft. width was suggested, Applicant stated he is willing to repair reconstruct 18- t.
He guessed that approximately half of the ex isting ortion of the road width measures out
to 20-ft.
In response to a question- posed by Thomas O'Hara, the Town Planner stated that
the next portion of land consists of conservation land on both sides, however a o-# .
portion of the road is controlled by the Board of Selectmen as a potential Town road.
Beyond that are two subdivisions. He raisd concerns about traffic issues.
1t appeared to be the general consensus ofthe Board to require a - t. wide road
consistency as traffic will increase and the entire road will be impacted by the new
development.
The Town Planner noted that the side of the road that was cut by the water
Department is the side that is to be developed and that most of the area. will be cleared for
a vegetated swail. Also, the portion of the road under discussion will be used as access to
their severer treatment plant.
Thomas O'Hara then asked about the remainder of those recommendations made
by the. Consulting Engineer, including the -continuation of a sidewalk to route 28.
The Chairman then asked Mr. Rowley ley to address his reconu nendations.
Mr. Rowley spoke to the two main points of access into the property and one
main point ofegress, the most easterly of what appears to be a right hand -turn only.
Residents of the development can enter from either Noisy Mole Road or the secondary
access to the east. However, you can only come out Noisy Hole Road. All of the traffic
is going to be corning out Noisy Hole load as proposed with a 20-ft. pavement .and Cape
Cod bean on both sides.
5
