" <br /> The Chairman requested a copy of the Horsley and <br /> Witten report be provided to the Planning Board fo-r their <br /> review and in-formation; to which r. onvie agreed. <br /> Discussion <br /> Southport Landscape Committee Ron B nvie <br /> General Tree Issues <br /> The Chairman called this matter to order. <br /> Again, Planning Board Member Harvey Cohen dick not s-it <br /> on this Discussion in order to avoid possible conflict of <br /> inte-rest. <br /> The Town Planner reported on a recent meeting with the <br /> landscapo committee. References were made to a memo dated <br /> February 24, 2006, from the Landscape committee. <br /> Some- of the main concepts are increasing the <br /> flexibility in the area of decision regarding trees. <br /> The Town Planner explained there are some- situations <br /> where a decision i-s to be made regarding the proximity of <br /> trees, beyond the twenty ( foot line from the buildings <br /> and foundation limes, clops not include deck areas, <br /> additional flexibility may be extended to thirty ) feet. <br /> Secondly, there should be a professional arborist <br /> involved, especially after the grading has been completed. <br /> It would be helpful if the arborist could make spat <br /> i-n-spections during the construction process, in order t <br /> protect the trees. <br /> Lee Gurney asked about arborist certifications; t <br /> which fir. Bonv.ie replied, •'arborists are -licensed, and <br /> there is a certification. " <br /> The chairman asked about Town Planner billing of <br /> inspections made at Southport . <br /> 9 <br />
