+ r
There is a rectangular settling pond located directly
adjacent to the Herring Run. There is a drainage pond at
the easterly end of the pond, and there are two smaller
pipes coming from the other side of Route 130 that flow
into a ditch. The water from the ditch flows through this
area/pipe and into the pond. The-re is an aluminum flume at
the fa.r end- of the pond.. The DPW Director explained this
had been constructed in order to contr 1 the sediment . Any
water corning Qff Route 130 would ultimately end up i-n the
pond.
.r. Rowley was unable to determine whether or not
runoff from Route 130 actually does into the parting area.
He investigated an outlet in the shoulder/berm at the
far end of the parking lot, which has also been recently
reconstructed. The area outside the berm is completely
vegetated, there is a storm line berm encased in a
galvanized wire basket with filter fabric and stone, which
is intended to -act as a barrier to disperse rapid runoff.
Where are two vertical pipes at the far end of the barrier
next to the river installed for the purpose of controlling
low flogs out of the sediment controlled area.
The majority of drainage in and a-round the Herrin Run
is very well controlled and has been designed in
conformance with DEP ]hest management practices . The- only
area of potential problem is located at the easterly end of
the walkway. Water a ccurnulaites at the end of the pavement
next to the wooden walkway and could easily g.o over the
bank. The water has eroded the soil between the bank and
the concrete wall and could be remedied by adding crushed
stone.
M.r. .Rowley stated that any repair work would fall
under DPW jurisdiction and that the DPW Director is working
.under a grant for any drainage reconstruction in this area.
Mr.. Rowley intends to provide the DPW Director with a
copy of his report when he has made a complete inspection
of all of those area-s of concern, as directed by the
Planning Board.
The Planning Board thanked Mr. Rowley for his report
and a job- well done.
12
