Larkin, who stated he is unaware of the 7-lot subdivision plan <br />submission. The Planning Board referred the matter to the cape <br />Cod commission. Perhaps the previous speaker was referring to a <br />previous attempt to the "illegal" Burger King project. <br />W. Larkin stated it is incorrect to label this issue as <br />belonging to him. He did not write this Article, it should not <br />be labeled a "Southport" issue simply due to the fact that he <br />resides there, he was approached by the petitioners who have an <br />inalienable right to use whatever language they have access to <br />in presenting an Article to Town Meeting. He also spoke to the <br />fact of common usage of language of the constitution of the <br />United States by politicians and citizens, stating it is "a sad <br />day for America and an even sadder day for the Town of Mashpee". <br />t this point the chairman asked if there were any other <br />speakers who wanted to comment on the proposed Article. <br />She recognized Mr. Peterson, who asked to make a comment, <br />stating he feels Mr. Terror should not only step down, but <br />"resign". <br />The Chairman made a clarification that Mr. Terry had duly <br />stepped clown from the Planning Board with regard to this matter <br />and its discussion; that he noes have every right to speak in <br />this matter, which he has done. <br />At this point the chairman opened the floor to any Town <br />Official wishing to spear in this matter: <br />Edward Go Toni, Chairman, Zoning Board of Appeals - who <br />stated he has been a resident of the Town of Mashpee for twenty <br />years, his daughters and grandchildren lure here as well. He <br />expressed support for the preservation of the Town of Mashpee, <br />stating however he is not if favor of the proposed Article. <br />The proposed Article did not derive from the comprehensive <br />Plan. At the time the Comprehensive Plan was written both the <br />Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals worked together on all <br />zoning articles within the Plan. The result being a Plan that is <br />fair to all Town Boards, as well as to the residents of Mashpee. <br />According to the Comprehensive Plan there was to have been a <br />Review Committee for the purpose of reviewing zoning articles, <br />which is the proper vehicle for matters such as these and which <br />the Board of Selectmen plans, to re ` es a l rsh . <br />Mr. Govoni stated he has been on the Zoning Board of Appeals <br />for over fifteen years, as well as being the current Assistant <br />Harbormaster, and a Member of the Design Review T Committee. In <br />fairness, Mr. Govoni stated he feels this matter should be <br />reviewed by all Town Boards. <br />-10- <br />
