r <br /> e <br /> J <br /> Mr. Storrs spoke to the possible opportunities for biking/walking connections <br /> between Deer Crossing, windhime Point, Quashnet valley, and the schools in the future <br /> s the project is built out. <br /> Energy Issues <br /> The Town Planner addressed this issue by providing hand-out materials, <br /> `Massachusetts New Homes with Energy Star", encouraging I la hpee Commons to <br /> develop"smarter" not `larger" in terms of the size of the house. <br /> Thomas O'Hara inquired about solar street lighting, noting that Mass Maritime is <br /> considering this type of lighting. Mr. Storrs spore to (safety) issues of concern in this <br /> regard such as sufficient lighting so that people can safely wally and see where-they are <br /> going, as well as the requirement for some type ofbackup system. <br /> Thomas Mayo noted the success of the senior citizen center shuttle service, within <br /> liashpee and regional transportation as well, suggesting it be used as a model transit <br /> system in a widely dispersed population. He also spoke to the possibility of feed <br /> certification for the library, suggesting that perhaps the senior shuttle service as a Mass <br /> Transit solution. <br /> Thomas Mayo provided information on"Energy Sust in bility— website <br /> Resources" for Board review. He made specific reference to CLC Commercial <br /> Industrial Programs and Energy Star Homes. <br /> Ryan Christen erry suggested the Commonwealth Solar energy website as a <br /> resource as well, which offers state and federal ta.x incentives and rebate incentives for <br /> commercial installations. <br /> Thomas Mayo noted the MTC (Mass Technology Collaborative) websites are <br /> wealth of information including.green buildings and renewable energy. He also provided <br /> information regarding"`Conservation Law Foundation Summary of S.2768, The green <br /> Communities Act" for Board review, and which Act was passed in July 2008. <br /> This matter concluded with a brief discussion regarding traffic issues and how <br /> they night best be addressed to serve the community. Phil Dascombe suggested the <br /> Cape Cod Commission would be interested in hearing what the Ton proposes as the <br /> best solution for the residents and the developer. Rotary traffic issues were also <br /> discussed, with the Chairman suggesting_ that the character of Cape Cod be preserved in <br /> the process. <br /> The Chairman determined that the topic of discussion for the October 1, 2008 <br /> Meeting will be existing and potential zoning options. <br /> This Discussion matter concluded at : o p. . <br /> 4 <br />
