�P1 Jim Hanks responded the account is not funded by mooring <br /> fees alone, but also private donations. (There was brief <br /> discussion regarding the General Fund, fees and uses. ) <br /> Ed Baker commented on the following: Reference to Dr. <br /> Bennett Gordon, suggested the proper reference should be New <br /> M �I. Partnership Director of Engineering, Michael <br /> Grotzke; The statement that " . . .oysters do not occur naturally <br /> � . {� � ' in the estuaries. . . , " there are locations where oysters do occur <br /> ja� , � I�' naturally; and the statement that the "October 1996 Annual Town <br /> 'I1�" Meeting voted to approve the appropriation of monies to prepare <br /> a Comprehensive Dredging Study and to prepare all necessary <br /> off permits. . , plan should be more general on that subject. <br /> + f , <br /> Ed Baker pointed out, " . . .unlikely to increase the flushing <br /> t rate as desired, since water depth must continually increase from <br /> the upper reaches of the River (Mashpee) and continuing across <br /> !r Popponesset Bay. . . " is incorrect and should be changed to be more <br /> d,�% ' accurate. <br /> Jim Hanks stated the Waterways Commission is in the process <br /> of reviewing this Element. There are a number of areas that need <br /> clarification. Eric Smith has done a wonderful job, but has not <br /> ��`+� '" had the opportunity to meet with the waterways Commission for <br /> discussion. <br /> (There was lengthy discussion regarding the condition of the <br /> Mashpee River, water discoloration, Canaways Cove and re- <br /> engineering of marshes being incorporated into this Plan. ) <br /> Bill Taylor, Godfrey Road, Mashpee: made reference to the <br /> following• page 315, Map 10, Shellfish Status Map (full report) , <br /> 7:1 "permanent" closures as of May 30, 1996. He suggested the word <br /> "permanent" be removed because the Mashpee River is shown as <br /> permanentlyclosed to shellfishing.
