Mashpee is becoming a
bedroom community to those people who work off Cape and come into
Mashpee to live. Mashpee should be concentrating on the higher
paying jobs, schooling and Woods Hole activities; not creating
low-paying jobs, tourism and retail trade. He feels there should
lr : + be more emphasis on year-round tourism and establishing a
technology base which would attract manufactures (not another
► ,lU restaurant) .
Mr. Fudala clarified the report states retail is a good
kill"IN source of tax revenue, not necessarily a source of good jobs.
4 Some jobs and income should be provided for people in the
' " existing work force who possess a certain level of skills and
trainability, as well as those positions at a higher technical
level.
rll Beverly Kane again expressed a concern for requirements
and monitoring safeguards for denitrofication systems (99 and
Cooke' s Restaurants) .
Patrick Coffey stated these establishments meet the State
" l' -8-
