The <br /> shellfish resource area maps have been based on the 1990 Plan <br /> and will be updated as much as possible for this draft element. <br /> The maps indicate habitat and existing population. Some of the <br /> comments received have indicated the desire to have these maps <br /> omitted from the Plan; the Shellfish Commission has requested i., . <br /> they be updated and remain within the Plan. Also indicated are <br /> Shellfish Bay Closures, permanent and seasonal. Shoestring Bay, J7 <br /> Sage Lot Pond and Mashpee River from Orsini Beach North are <br /> permanent closures; Orsini Beach to the mouth is a seasonal <br /> closure. <br /> Map lla and b-Working Waterfront Areas. Marinas and <br /> Shellfish Grant Areas are identified: Waquoit Bay, Little River <br /> Boat Yard, Wills Brook Road, Popponesset Water Shed (2 Grants and <br /> 2 Marinas) , Half Tide and New Seabury Marinas. Wampanoag Grant <br /> and Cook Brothers. <br /> Dredging-Harbor improvements, identified dredging needs, <br /> Mashpee River and Ockway Bay. Dredging, Funding and Current <br /> Plans-C. 40 S5G Municipal Waterways Improvement Account; Mashpee <br /> Municipal Waterways Improvement Account-45G, (50% excise tax, all <br /> mooring permit fees, monies appropriated by Town and State, tax <br /> deductible donation or gift) . Town Meeting has approved ninety- <br /> five ($95, 000 . 00) for maintenance dredging of Waquoit Bay and <br /> Popponesset Waterways; as well as eighty-five ($85, 000.00) for <br /> the initiation of permits for Mashpee River and a master dredging <br /> plan. <br /> Public & Large Private Coastal Access Facilities. Coastal r <br /> Beaches, Marinas (Little River Boat Yard 12 dozen large boat <br /> slips, New Seabury Marina 28-36 boat slips, Half Tide Marina 52 <br /> boat slips) , and Boat Landings were identified. Further <br /> development, security, clean-up and maintenance of these public <br /> ways were mentioned, as well as the ten (10) acre work site on <br /> Waquoit Bay. <br /> Historic Rights of Way (ancient ways) . Rock Landing, <br /> Daniel ' s Island Road and Mitchell' s Landing were identified. <br /> Analysis:Moorings. The Harbor Master has reported that the <br /> mooring areas are becoming filled up. New mooring potentials <br /> were pointed out, noting that parking and public access issues <br /> would have to be addressed for further development. <br /> Analysis:Shellfish, Docks and Waterways. New docks are to <br /> provide for traditional rights of fishing, fouling and <br /> navigation. <br /> Multiple Use Plan. For the identification of multiple uses <br /> and determine guidelines. <br /> Analysis:Popponesset Spit. Proposed to rebuild the Spit as <br /> it was in 1938. Three owners being Chris Burden, Fields Point G <br /> and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. + <br /> Action Plan. A detailed study of the Spit issue is to be <br /> included in the final version of this Plan. <br /> Recommended Policies.
