16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Ms. Wells stated they are in order of what is being worked on. Transportation is lagging behind, natural
resources, open space and recreation are almost finished, and housing is well on its way.
Mr. Balzarini asked what sustainability means.
Ms. Wells answered that sustainability addresses anything about building resilience on the front of
municipality in the face of climate changes.
Ms. Waygan inquired further if energy meant carbon footprint or energy uses by the Town. Ms. Wells
stated yes.
Website Update:
The contract with CitizenLab is with the Town. The launch date, if all goes well, will be mid -March,
contract depending. There are some workarounds that can be done to not delay community
engagement. For example, the town website can act as a platform for information.
Mr. Balzarini asked how the website will be advertised. He is worried people in his age group will not
know how to obtain information off the virtual platforms.
Mr. Lehrer explained that the engagement in digital space is supplemental to in person events. When
the website is up and running the tools should be relatively user friendly. Once a URL is in place it will
be in the newspaper, mailers, business cards, etc. This is a way for citizens to engage from anywhere.
Mr. Lehrer also wanted to clarify, CitizenLab provided a contract and Counsel has issues with the
contract. He has a meeting to remedy the issue, but it's critical to get this platform launched congruently
with the opening workshops. If procurement is delayed longer we will utilize amenities in Town Hall, like
the website, to get the information out. It won't be as interactive, but Weston & Sampson has tools to
promote interaction. The procurement issue is out of our hands but this is the utmost priority. He
anticipates it will be worked through first thing tomorrow.
Schedule Update:
They are hitting targets, and getting ready for the public launch in mid -March. They continue to utilize
online resources and making printable documents for the public. They will continue to work with Mr.
Lehrer to identify location and time for the Public Kickoff that will launch the whole effort.
Mr. Fulone wanted to follow up on Mr. Balzarini's point about keeping people apprised. He asked if
there will be a "coming soon" advertisement or something to be watching for in mid -March.
Mr. Lehrer noted that the Board will need to identify topical areas and identify a location and date for
the kickoff. Next meeting is March 2, 2022, two weeks before the mid -march point. He would like to ask
of a suggested method, press release, PSA, or any literature, he would take direction.
Chris Ball from Mashpee TV offered Mashpee TV as an outlet to promote this movement by putting out
PSAs.
3
