The consensus was that widening of parallel <br /> parking was not advantageous because people would still park <br /> on edge of parallel parking, not closer to the curb. <br /> Question to traffic consultants of Cape Cod Commission would <br /> 13 or 14 ft lanes work better than 12 ft lanes? <br /> The answer was yes it would work better but it is not <br /> necessarily necessary. <br /> Judy stated that the CCC people were very good at "sitting <br /> on the fence" . <br /> Tom explained , that he proposed 1.4 ft lanes for 3 reasons , <br /> ability of fire trucks to get through, additional safety for <br /> people getting out of parked cars , and the third reason was <br /> it could be expanded if it had to. <br /> Doug stated that the consensus of the meeting by Fields <br /> Point was to compromise with 13 ft lanes and 8 ft parallel. <br /> parking.
