16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, .Massachusetts o264g
Mr. Lehrer commented that two things became clear in the last workshop. Business owners are not
coming to a workshop being held on a Saturday morning at 10:OOa.m. He is organizing a business
round table with the Chamber. He would like to try and get that done on June 1 st. The morning meeting
could work if he can coordinate the business round table for later in the afternoon. Similarly, with youth
engagement, middle school kids are really good at describing what they love and don't love about the
town. The individuals we really need to capture are their parents. He will be hosting a virtual workshop
in coordination with the schools.
Ms. Faulkner stated it would it be smart to take the old survey and add things on climate change and
other issues that are missing.
Mr. Lehrer noted of course additional questions will be added. We need to assess, as the old survey
will provide context, then we reframe and break it down into smaller components. We want to draw on
trends and just make it clear and easy to understand. Survey methodology wants to support findings
from the engagements and support those findings with the additional data.
Mr. Balzarini asked if they will send the survey out. He stated there were not many attendees on the
first one.
Mr. Lehrer explained it will be available in paper mailed to households as well as online. He reminded
the Board they have an 18 month contract with the consultants. The contract has a little cushion, but it
is good to stay focused and press on.
Ms. Waygan asked for a copy of the survey that was not issued. She also stated if there is going to be
a mail out survey, they may only want to do one. If it was only launched online it could be done by topic
or chapter.
Mr. Lehrer is planning to capture some traffic at community events such as the Race Amity Day festival.
Mr. Hansen wanted to make a comment about the sound quality at the workshop. There was an issue
with the microphone. Also, with the six tables close together, it made it difficult to hear your own table.
He assumes the next meetings will be held at the library. It may be advantageous to have 4 tables in
the room and 2 outside, then have chairs set up for those people to come back to the group.
Mr. Lehrer said there will be more people in attendance. He cannot accommodate for less tables.
Mr. Richardson commented the room was very active and there was a lot of energy.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
HAC/APCC Grow Smart Maps
Ms. Waygan commented the Association to Preserve Cape Cod and the Cape Cod Commission looked
at land that wasn't restricted by historic or conservation, not in flood zone or wetland, and mapped
4
