16 Great Neck R.oadWorth
9vlashpee, Massachusetts oz64g
Mr. Lehrer knows there was Board interest in working sessions. If there is interest tonight we can dive
in, or if more time is needed to assess and bring back to the next meeting, that is fine. He stressed the
urgency for completing the Existing Conditions chapters. He met with the Affordable Housing and
Sewer Commission which were helpful in providing information.
Ms. Waygan asked if they were meeting on June 8, 2022 at 9:OOa.m. She asked Board members to
pick a couple of Existing Conditions chapters and be prepared to discuss then. She would like Mr.
Lehrer to email the Board a list in order of priority.
Mr. Fulone inquired if the yellow highlighting in Recreation means the section was updated.
Ms. Waygan discussed the layout as Section One being Vision, Section Two as Introduction, and
Section Three being Existing Conditions. She asked if Section Four will be a different element.
Ms. Sweet noted that is up for discussion as they will need to talk about the format. There are a couple
of ways to structure a Comprehensive Plan. They are seeking layout feedback from the Board.
Ms. Waygan stated drafts for Existing Conditions can be obtained through the Town Planner.
Survey Framework Presentation
Ms. Sweet commented that they want to take a step back and review the overall approach, as there are
two new members. They also would like to lay out some items they discussed with Mr. Lehrer that
really set the stage for how they are move forward.
Comprehensive Plans and Planning Process
Traditional: Chapter Oriented, text heavy, technical writing approach, data driven, limited public
participation, lack specific direction for implementation, and difficulty transcending jurisdictional borders.
Modern: System oriented, easy to read, visual, easy to understand, policy and action driven, focus on
public participation, scalable, visionary and anticipating of change
How to accomplish this in Mashpee?
- Review existing chapters and update facts and figures
- Reorganize in a more readable and user friendly manner
- Highlight public participation and link the results to actionable items (previous and new)
- Include appropriate and relevant links to the Cape Cod Commission
- Include new and emerging topics (climate change, resiliency, energy)
Existing Conditions
- Housing
- Economic Development
- Sustainability
