The online portion could be structured into <br />separate sections, one at a time. <br />Ms. Faulkner would like to have it carry the same format as the plan as written. <br />Ms. Waygan would like to group questions together. <br />Mr. Lehrer stated there can be reasonable modifications to be recycled in a productive way. A good <br />survey supports the community engagement to obtain the goals set forth. <br />Mr. Hansen suggested a systems approach, as they are all truly integrated, but not putting them in <br />boxes. He doesn't know how to structure into chapters and sections, but keep that in mind. <br />Survey Best Practices <br />- Identify your objective before you design the questions. Set a goal. <br />- Keep it short and straightforward <br />- Avoid jargon, technical terms, and data <br />- Avoid biased or leading questions <br />- Ask direct questions, do not be vague <br />Ms. Sweet stated there will be some information as a text box to input their own questions. It may alter <br />survey results but it is helpful. There are some leading questions from 2011, they want people to have <br />options not drive the questions a certain way. You also cannot put Housing against Economic <br />Development. What are values or how important are these topics as opposed to ranking them. They <br />would like a draft survey for Planning Board review before the June 15th meeting to allow for discussion <br />at the meeting on June 15, 2022. <br />Mr. Hansen inquired in their experience with surveys and LCP's, what is the participation percentage? <br />In a town comprised of 15,000 people, only 651 answered the survey last time. What figure would be <br />the goal for the LCP participation across the town? <br />Ms. Wells commented 10% is the goal. She doesn't like to give a number, but she will be disappointed <br />if there are less than 500 responses. They should be aiming high and thinking about ways to get the <br />survey into the most hands. They will really lean on the Planning Board to spread the word. She wants <br />much closer to 10%, but not as few as 500. <br />Ms. Sweet noted this is a snapshot in time about how people feel about particular issues at the moment <br />not a data analysis.
