Plannin Board
...,
16 Great Neck Road.Worth
Nashpee, Nassachusetts 02649
forward, it is just a tool. This can lead to awareness. After the survey there will be an influx of traffic to
the website, meetings, or engagements. She is not concerned about the methodology in getting
information out. If you hand out cards in certain areas you bias the results by targeting certain groups.
You want universal participation by way of flyers, email, or blurb in the paper, etc.
Mr. Balzarini stated they could stand outside grocery stores and hand out flyers.
Ms. Sweet echoed that retail centers, churches, and the library could all have a QR code to drive traffic
to the survey. Cell phones scan the code and take participants directly to the survey,
Mr. Lehrer wanted to note that his intern will be starting next week.
Ms. Sweet suggested to look to local vendors to donate for the raffle.
Mr. Fulone stated they could put an ad in The Enterprise with the QR code.
Mr. Hansen is afraid of the silent majority. He lives in a 55+ community and he is so disheartened by
Town Meeting and voter turnout. Many have the mentality that it won't affect them so they don't care.
Ms. Sweet stated they are really trying to target younger people and families to engage in these
activities, they are the hardest group to reach.
Mr. Balzarini commented he likes the way Scituate designed their plan.
Ms. Sweet is seeing a large movement towards a leaflet summary with visuals, very short and to the
point.
Ms. Wells stated it could even be online, there is an implementation tool and you look up relevant
actions.
Ms. Sweet discussed transitioning into action items that people can follow along. Currently, action plans
need to be searched. The implementation table has the topic and lists out actions, but it also identifies
the lead person who supports them and what the time frame is with what investment is needed by the
community. It is an easy way to keep track of the checklist going forward. For example, a Zoning
Amendment lead would be Town Planner and Planning Board or Select Board as support. Some don't
contemplate financing, usually it is a representation of dollar signs, small or big ticket items represented
by a number of dollar signs.
Mr. Lehrer stated in the 1998 plan there was a slight deviation to that in regards to Open Space and
Transportation. There were reasonable ranges of what the cost should be with a numeric value.
11
