16 Great Neck RoadXorth
'Mashpee, Nassachusetts 02649
Mr. Richardson agreed that the schools need to be involved and that is one way how parents will learn
is when the kids come home from school with information.
Ms. Sweet commented in listening to the sections that were mentioned to keep, the actual format of the
updated document relies on the Planning Board. What we want to streamline across chapters is how
they are formatted. If you want to call out specific sections in specific chapters we would need to look at
how that carries through from chapter to chapter. Format is easy in terms of a reader being able to
bounce around topics. Sections do talk about inventory, she is not sure it needs to be its own section,
as it is covered in existing conditions. Each chapter should define what the town currently has and what
resources are available. Analysis comes out in policies and actions. We can take a look at working sub
headings into relevant chapters. The goal is to create a pattern with the reader that is comfortable.
The Chair recognized Arden Russell for Public Comment.
Arden Russell- She commented she was at the workshop on Saturday and she heard a lot about
enforcement and proper staffing at Town Hall for enforcement and accomplishing strategies. DNR
received MVP grant money specific to Santuit Pond. The consultant came up with a lot of entities to
implement and she is not sure it is clear how the report will make it from the shelf to the entities
responsible for implementation. She would like to see that included in the action steps.
Discussion returned to the Planning Board.
Ms. Waygan stated the plan will be devised where the action steps are assigned to a department, then
it is up to Town Manager to say go for it.
Mr. Lehrer stated the implementation plans are usually coupled with a committee, staff, or community,
and it will be required of that group or person to monitor that the actions get carried through.
Review of Existing Conditions for the following Local Comprehensive Plan Chapters: Housing,
Economy, Cultural Heritage, Open Space and Recreation, Transportation and Circulation,
Municipal Buildings, Facilities and Service, Sustainability, Natural Resources
Housing
Ms. Waygan asked if Mr. Lehrer was able to obtain comments from the Affordable Housing Committee.
Mr. Lehrer noted the housing component is still being worked on. He would provide the minutes from
the meeting where they were given comments from the AHC.
Ms. Waygan submitted her comments on April 6th. She would like the first sentence to be replaced to
say Mashpee's housing development over the last half century catalyzed a significant population
growth. The way it is written now says the population growth catalyzed the housing development. In this
town it was if you build it, they will come. Majority of this development has been single family detached
91
