 ^ Iwo ^p 8✓iM'
u Diu,
` bwYL G 2 . Planning Board
16 Great Neck Road North
Nashpee, Nassachusetts 02649
that increase, we end up at the top end of our budget with $3,000 remaining. He is concerned about
developing paper survey with money for postage and printing. Their response rate for paper surveys is
2%. His concern is to spend all that money on mailing and printing when there will be limited
responses. He might suggest as an alternative, they do online as planned, but he does a mailing from
his office with all the information, or his information to be able to request a paper survey and he could
print on demand from his office. Copies could also be left at the Public Library or the Senior Center. It
will save us the money.
Mr. Balzarini would like to put an ad in the paper to advertise the survey for a couple weeks.
Ms. Waygan noted having them on display at places people frequent because they don't have
computers. We might be able to send them out with meals on wheels.
Mr. Richardson commented 2% is ridiculous, people are busy today.
Mr. Fulone asked if a couple of laptops could be set up at the Southport event so people can fill it out
there.
Mr. Lehrer stated he could even host a survey event with pizza and set up laptops where people come
and take it at the Senior Center. He is more than happy to get paper copies in people's hands, he just
wants to avoid the mail with added costs.
Ms. Waygan asked for Public Comment and recognized Lynne Barbee.
Lynne Barbee- She volunteers to sit at the Library or Senior Center at designated times and give
people surveys and have them fill them out there. She also thinks Oktoberfest could host a table. The
School Committee, there may be parents who don't have high speed internet and want a copy. She
assumes they will all be in English. Mr. Lehrer stated they could even send them home with the
children. Through PTA or School Committee get the word out to people.
Mr. Balzarini suggested they incentivize the survey for parents of school aged children, they can get a
free ice cream cone at the Polar Cave.
Mr. Lehrer needs to work on incentives for the survey as well.
Ms. Waygan turned the discussion back to the Board. She noted Mr. Fulone had some questions
regarding the survey questions.
Mr. Fulone noted most of this is intended for Mr. Martin, but he inquired about question three, in some
places we use descriptors and in other places we don't. Is there a reason for that or should we be
consistent. For example, we say rural character of the town, but should it just read character. Another
example, we say small town lifestyle, should we just say lifestyle. There are places where we say traffic
11
