16 Great Neck RoadWorth
Nashyee, Nassachusetts 02649
Mr. Fulone noted loss of small town character implies it is a negative. He also didn't go through every
question, but in the area of descriptors or non -descriptors just be consistent and keep it simple. On
housing, that first question, where do we land on attainable or affordable?
Ms. Faulkner does not think those services should be lumped together, as you can have a problem with
one and not another.
Ms. Waygan does not want to break out all the town services, as it will add length to the survey.
Speaking to Mr. Fulone's comment about housing, back in the day it used to be homelessness, then it
got branded affordable, it has since rebranded as workforce, and now it's being rebranded as
attainable.
Mr. Lehrer wonders if the term evolving or changing could be used. There is another option here, to get
rid of the question. We have identified there is a need for more attainable housing on Cape Cod. What
is ones perception of the problem matter? We know there is a problem. We need to get at solutions.
Someone could reply not sure. There is data that demonstrates that, so how do we get at that?
Ms. Waygan noted he wants to see which one pops up as the number one problem. She predicts
housing will be one or two. You could just use housing in this question. What is the most serious
problem facing Mashpee -- housing. Ms. Waygan asked for Public Comment and recognized Lynne
Barbee.
Lynne Barbee- She was wondering if police and fire might not want to have those separated out,
emergency services, to see what people think. Is the impression good or are there weaknesses. We
haven't had our workshop on emergency services.
Ms. Waygan informed Ms. Barbee on page 21, it says municipal buildings facilities and services, and it
asks how satisfied you are with the following town services. It has fire, ambulance service, and police.
Conversation was brought back to the Board.
Mr. Fulone asked about question 6 and the why the last bullet was taken out.
Ms. Waygan noted it was just reworded. Question number four is going back in, she crossed it out.
Mr. Lehrer will clean this up. In his opinion, you can't just ask about multifamily housing in town
because multifamily housing represents so many different types of housing. We need to understand the
types of housing options the town may support.
Ms. Waygan noted question five and seven are in question six now. On question three, instead of
asking if people want housing or open space, we are going to make a chart that says we have limited
land available to us, it's either developable or available to be put aside as open space or protected.
13
