16 Great Neck RoadWorth
-Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
municipal services and facilities, there is a questions seeking the same answers. Are there any services
the Tribe and the town could share?
Mr. Lehrer will redraft and provide a clean copy.
Mr. Hansen noted he went through quite a bit and crossed out some redundancies. There was one
issue he saw under municipal buildings, question one on page 17, it asks how satisfied you are with the
following town services and facilities. We talked about the Tribe and some of their facilities, but there is
one facility that many people including his neighbors all have the same complaint about, and it's the
location of the United States Post Office on Main Street in the Mashpee Commons. Nobody likes that
location. He knows they cannot change the location but maybe this is a step in making a change.
Mr. Lehrer commented when a question is asked to obtain data tied to a specific action, you want to
make sure the town is going to be in a position to take efforts and make change. It will just take up
survey real estate when there is nothing they can do about it. It would be his suggestion to not include
that question for that reason.
Mr. Fulone said they run the risk of having 98% of people not liking the location then there being no
resolution.
Ms. Waygan stated the town could write a letter to the Post Office. She has heard this comment for
twenty years. They were going to move it, but she has heard this form a variety of people over the
years.
Mr. Lehrer noted this question generally frustrates him, as it is a parking issue, there is minimal parking.
Ms. Waygan commented they need to add accessibility/mobility under the transportation section.
Ms. Faulkner stated it's all relative. The Post Office gets busy on holidays, but compared to larger
cities, this is nothing.
Mr. Lehrer went back to the question, it would be consistent with survey best practice that questions
asked have the ability to effectuate change.
Mr. Balzarini commented that the town can ask the Post Office to move their building, but it is up to
them and they don't have the money.
Ms. Waygan noted they are happy where they are currently located. They were going to move next to
the Library but the Post Master didn't want to spend the money on the architecture. It was a beautiful
building. It was right where the mini golf is now.
Ms. Faulkner thinks there would still be a parking problem and people would use the Library lot.
17
