MINUTES October 26, 1995 5 BOARD OF HEALTH
Nfi-, Minior responded, "Just prior to getting the results from monitoring well #57
Mr. Baker and I had sat down and we had already started to discuss the issue of what can
be done for that area as far as the Mashpee Water District goes to help the homeowner
and connect the ones that are still on private wells." "In addition, the question of
reimbursement to the people who hooked up five years ago, that information has been
passed on to our Washington office and their now in the process of considering that."
"Hopefully, in the next six weeks or so we should receive some response back from the
people in Washington who basically hold the purse strings for that type of activity."
Mr. Doherty questioned, "It is possible for us to comment to that particular
office?"
Mr. Minior responded, "If you send me a letter it will get there."
Mr. Doherty stated, "Once you get a handle on this contaminated plume have you
discussed any action plans?"
Mr. Minior responded, "This is part of the containment project." "We should be
able to, with the information we are gathering now, be able to complete the design of the
system as planned." "We have already determined what type of treatment plant we need."
"The treatment plant for the CS 10 plume is going to be on the base." "It will be just
determining where to put the extraction fence in." "We have to concern ourselves with
the pond itself, what the impacts would be pumping water of any great quantity before it
reaches the pond because that will change the balance in that area." "We have any
existing agreement with the Mashpee Water District." "It would be very easy to change
the wording to include those nine homes for municipal water hook-up."
Mr. McQuaid commented, "Ed Baker is working on compensating the town for
having paid to bring the water to Horseshoe Bend Way/Tritown Circle." "What we're
looking for is to immediately hook those nine homes up to town water."
Mr. Minior stated, "It will be about six weeks until we can tie the homeowner's
in."
Mr. Doherty stated, "These homeowners now face a potential threat."
Mr. Ball commented, "That is to long a time."
i
