Mr. Kerrigan replied that it is scheduled to be opened 7 : 00
A.M. to dark. He also noted that the amount of traffic
generated will be far less than from any retail or
commercial use .
Mr. Shaughnessey commented that the Board must consider the
need for this type of business . There are 2 similar
facilities , one just north of town and one in Falmouth. He
called them and both have plenty of space available, there
seems to be no need in town. His second point; there is no
employment involved for young people in this facility. He
also commented that the school department is looking at this
site for school expansion, and the general area is under
consideration for the new town hall . With the surge of
activities to the area (rotary) what will happen to this
end of town, this question must be of paramount importance
to all of us. He believes a storage facility is the worst
use for that prime land that one can devise .
Judy asked how many units there will be? Tony explained
that the Board must determine appropriate amount of parking
for this type of facility, therefore they must know number
of units and configuration before special permit is issued.
Mr . Kerrigan stated that all that information was given to
someone in Town Hall and he was under impression it was
filed with site plan and review.
Tony stated that the Board does not have them and he doesn' t
know if they were filed or not .
Tony explained that there was no way the Board could take
favorable action on this project without a complete traffic
analysis being done and time for the Board to review study.
Mr . Kerrigan stated that they will have it done but noted
that it does not say anywhere that a traffic study must be
done and how can the Board tell him there is not enough time
to have it done if this is the first time it has been asked
of them?
Mr . Kerrigan would like the time to get opinions, on the
unresolved issues from his attorney and Town Council .
Louise motioned to continue the public hearing until Jan.
4th at 8 : 30 . Judy seconded the motion. All Board members
were in favor .
Applicant: The Bonwood Co.
Location: Rte . 151/Algonquin/Old Barnstable Road
Request : Review of Phase II (orig. Phases III and IV)
of "Southport" Planned Rt,tirement C=",,,unity
(formerly Pine Hill Estates) .
Louise and Judy stepped down. Tony suggested they wait for
Rich to hear this issue (only he and Scott present) .
