4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 1, 2008 <br /> Superintendent of Schools—Update: (continued) <br /> MSBAB Grant Endorsement: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> The School Department has requested the Selectmen approve a grant <br /> application to the Massachusetts School Building Assistant Bureau for <br /> energy conservation and replacement projects. Grant funding is requested <br /> for the KCC Energy Management System Phase I & 1I, and for the <br /> Quashnet HVAC Phase II replacement. No matching funds are required <br /> for the grant if attained. The projects as identified are noted to be <br /> contained in the Capital Improvement Program(CIP). <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cook to approve the (2) above referenced <br /> projects for MSBAB grant funding. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Myers. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> The Selectmen expressed appreciation to Ms. Bradshaw for seeking <br /> alternative funding initiatives for the capital project needs. <br /> DPW Director: <br /> Trash Update: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works outlined(3) scenario's for <br /> the handling of trash and recycling. It was noted the contract with the <br /> present operator of the Transfer Station expires at the end of the fiscal <br /> year. As per the contractual agreement, the Town has the ability to <br /> negotiate a one-year extension to allow a full study of the options. The <br /> Selectmen agreed to further review specifications to re-bid the contract. <br /> The current contract with SEMASS expires in calendar year 2014. <br /> Ms. Laurent reviewed the three options to be considered for FY2010 <br /> which include curbside collection, the pay-as-you-throw(PAYT)program, <br /> and maintaining status quo. Upon review, it was agreed the Selectmen <br /> would further discuss this matter at the next meeting to obtain additional <br /> input from Selectman Green, absent for this meeting. <br />
