4
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
August 5, 2002
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Habitat for Humanity:
Don Dickinson, Habitat for Humanity was present to request the
Selectmen support their Local Initiative Project application to develop
affordable homes in the Town of Mashpee.
The project is developed through a partnership by and between the Town
of Mashpee and Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod. The Town
contributes the land, offers technical and marketing assistance, grants a
density increase and waives all permit fees.
Mr. Dickinson discussed the local initiative project for two single family
homes to be located on Sandy Fox Drive, Mashpee. The 15,000 square
foot lots meet all zoning conditions and set backs, but they are undersized
by today's zoning standards.
It was noted that the May 1, 2000 Annual Town Meeting voted to approve
the transfer of five building.lots to Habitat for Humanity for the
construction of affordable single-family homes.
Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to support the Habitat for
Humanity of Cape Cod and their Local Initiative Project application
as presented
Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
The Town Administrator was authorized to draft a memorandum to the
Zoning Board of Appeals relative to the Selectmen's support and
endorsement of the (LIP)grant application.
i
