8 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 6, 2001 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Helene DeFoe: (continued) <br /> r In other matters the Selectmen discussed the status of the Library <br /> I Ir Expansion Project with the Library Building Committee. It was noted that <br /> Mashpee is presently on a deferral list for grant funding. <br /> The present make-up of the committee and design issues was considered. <br /> It was agreed that a workshop session would be held with the proponents <br /> of Mashpee Commons Ltd.,the Selectmen, Finance Committee and <br /> Library Building Committee to further review the feasibility of the design <br /> and related program. <br /> Bargmann Hendrie& Archetype: <br /> Architects from the firm of Bargmann Hendrie & Archetype further <br /> delineated Phase I of the Community Facilities Plan under the direction of <br /> the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Phase (1 a) proposes the design and construction of a Senior Center, Phase <br /> (lb) incorporates the Leisure Services facility. It was noted that design <br /> and construction cost assumptions would save the town approximately <br /> $250,000 if the two buildings were built simultaneously. <br /> The architect indicated that there is enough square footage in the proposed <br /> village site location to include the Library expansion project. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to grant funding to offset costs. <br /> Members of the Facilities Needs Committee urged the Selectmen to <br /> consider the October Town Meeting for design fees through bid <br /> documentation. It was noted that design schematics are a necessary <br /> component of funding applicability. <br /> The Selectmen agreed to place on the Board's agenda, the discussion of a <br /> survey to present to the taxpayers to prioritize capital improvement <br /> projects to assist the Selectmen in their decision. The Capital <br /> Improvement Program as present, outlines the appropriation of design fees <br /> for the Senior Center project in FY03. <br />
