Finance_ Committee Minutes <br /> March ',1 , 1989 ' <br /> Page 2 . <br /> information was correct and expressed his belief that town counsel <br /> should be able to itemize bills on each case . The Finance Committee <br /> will address this issue further with Joe Murphy and will correspond <br /> with the Assessors about their findings . Ed Dolan informer! the <br /> Assessors that the $1 , 000 alloted in the wage account of $5 , 000 <br /> would have to be deleted as the board secretaries ' wages come <br /> from the Personnel Budget and this would have to be addressed <br /> with them . <br /> $� Chet Koblinsky the Harbormaster joined the meeting to discuss <br /> '`ate his FY90 Budget . Chet noted that he will be very happy to have <br /> the Fire Truck that will be taken out of service , when the Fire <br /> Department gets a new truck . Bill Towner noted the big increase <br /> in gas and oil . Chet explained that this was in part due to the <br /> ., new boat and the truck that would be coming to his department . <br /> He noted that maintenance of the boats is very costly and he is <br /> looking into a variety of options that would cut costs . Chet <br /> expressed the need to have a third patrol boat in town . One boat <br /> would be used for Waquoit , 1 for Popponesset and 1 boat for the <br /> four ponds . The cost of this new boat fully equiped is $11., 000 . <br /> ' drThe Finance Committee told Chet that they would inform him of <br /> their decisions regarding his budget . <br /> Howie Evora , of the Mashpee Civil Defense joined the meeting <br /> to discuss his FY90 budget . Howie is new in this position and <br /> explained to the Finance Committee that there is virtually no <br /> equipment available . `.11e has an old cuiser and an old army <br /> surplus truck . He is seeking $685 in salary , $6 , 097 in expenses <br /> for a total request of $6. , 782 . The Finance Committee addressed <br /> expenses with Mr . Evora . lie cited the need for the two-way <br /> radio at $899 and one portable radio at $2 , 556 stating that there <br /> is no communications equipment in the truck and there is no way <br /> for anyone to reach him when he is in it . There is no adequate <br /> surplus equipment available from the Fire or Police Departments . <br /> Carl told him the Finance Committee would send a letter to <br /> him stating their final position . <br /> Joe Murphy and Selectmen , Gottlieb , Hanson and Lawrence <br /> joined the meeting . The Finance Committee addressed several questions <br /> they had concerning the Selectmen ' s FY90 budget . Murphy noted that. <br /> the $31 , 000 in the budget is for actual streetlights and this <br /> request may require a supplementary appropriation later this year . <br /> The Emergency Water Supply represents the cost of bottled water to <br /> Summerwood and Asher ' s Path and also the provision of water from <br /> Highwood Water Company from the emergency supply tap . The <br /> Janitorial Supplies of . $11 , 000 would be under the new Superintendent ' s <br /> control but for consolidation purposes remain in the Selectmen ' s <br /> budget . Murphy noted that advertising went down , there will not be <br /> so many lengthy bylaws . Murphy addressed the $50 , 000 request of <br /> the Assessors for legal costs . Joe noted that the first issue was <br /> that a mo realistic figure would be $10 , 000 rather .than the $50 , 000. <br /> He noted 3t to have town counsel break out costs will cost the <br /> town Sul' intially . It was noted that the Assessors meet with <br /> town cou,: •-el and discuss proceedings and they could surely get <br />
