5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 20, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> School Budget Review—Finance Committee Budget Review: <br /> Finance Committee member, Dean Arden requested information <br /> pertaining to the preschool programs in the Mashpee Public Schools. <br /> A memorandum dated 3/20/00 was presented to the Finance Committee <br /> with respect to this regard. <br /> The Finance Committee also requested clarification with respect to <br /> the duties of a District Guidance Director, and Math and Language Arts <br /> Coordinator positions. <br /> The School Committee clarified the above issue. It was noted <br /> that the Superintendent presented a list of potential budget reductions <br /> and related consequences of such for FY01 in a memorandum dated <br /> 3/1.5/00 that reflect a total budget reduction of$688,500. <br /> The School Committee did not endorse the Superintendent's proposed <br /> reductions, but agreed to a budget reduction of$219,000. The School <br /> Committee, at their last meeting voted to recommend a budget of <br /> $14,131,000. The initial budget request was $14,350,000, <br /> The Finance Committee indicated that they will make their <br /> recommendation on the School budget on Tuesday,March 21, 2000. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to recommend a School Budget <br /> of$14,000,000 for FY01. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> Discussion ensued. <br /> Motion withdrawn by Selectman-Blythe and Selectman Cahalane. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to recommend a School Budget <br /> of$14,075,00 for FY01. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Cook to recommend a School Budget of <br /> $14,075,000 for FY01. <br /> Motion seconded by Mrs. Mills. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
