7
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 20, 2000
OLD BUSINESS:
Town Muting Warrant Review:
Article #25: To grant the Water District an easement across land
owned by the Town of Mashpee, extending from
Noisy Hole Road across town land at a width of
twenty feet.
Several residents of the Noisy Hole Road area were present in
opposition to the article as proposed and submitted by the Mashpee
Water District.
In addition, correspondence was received from the Conservation
Commission dated march 17, 2000 recommending postponement
of said article.
Conservation Commission member, Chuck Green indicated that
there is concern regarding the proposed easement/waterline in the
area of public safety and detrimental wildlife impacts. The proposal
requires adequate and detailed information prior to acceptance.
Perry Ellis, Water District Commissioner discussed his memorandum of
March 20, 2000 relative to the placement of a water main under a parcel of
land owned by the Town of Mashpee.
Mr. EIlis indicated that the water line will enable the District to loop the
system. The easement is necessary to maintain water pressure and proper
fire safety standards.
Beverly Kane, a member of the Environmental Coalition stated that the
area is fragile, and the neighborhood has not had enough time to conduct
due process. She recommended postponement.
Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to postpone Article#25 to
the October Town Meeting as recommended.
Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor.
VOTE: 4-1. Motion carries.
Selectman Blythe in opposition.
