The two members opposed were Jim and Tony.
Members agreed that there was to be no change to the Moderator's
salary of $100.
Members next addressed the Trash budget. As discussed at a previous
meeting it was noted that there are two contingency accounts in this budget ,
one for a hazardous waste disposal emergency for $10,000 (originally $16,476.
in the budget) and one for the Lagoon account for $7,000. Members agreed that
the Health Department should make a Request for Transfer from the Reserve Fund
if and when these monies should be needed. Vern also informed the Committee
that the $25,000 requested for the handling of recyclables has been reduced to
$15,000. These three items represent a savings of $27,000 in the Trash budget.
and when deducted from their original request leave a bottom line budget of
$514,018. Carole seconded the motion and six members voted in favor.
Deirdre did not vote or participate in the discussion of the trash budget.
Vern informed the Committee that she had discussed the Board of health
budget with them and noted that they had agreed that they could live with a
cut of $11,886 in the salary and wage account. Both the agent and- the
assistant have agreed not .to seek any increase this year. Vern noted that
the assistant agent is a Registered Sanitarian and brings in revenue for the
town.
