5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 10, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: (continued) <br /> George Benway also deferred his comments in public forum. <br /> In other business, Leslie Greig voiced concern with regards to the Tribal <br /> Council land suit. He asked if the Tribal Council has stated their <br /> intentions, and if the suit has been disclosed. Mr. Greig spoke in fear of <br /> having liens or rental fees attached to his property. <br /> Affirmative Action Committee Chairman, Jan Strickland recommended to <br /> bridge the gap between the community by having a representative from <br /> the Bureau of Indian Affairs explain the recognition process and to answer <br /> any questions from the citizens in an open public forum. <br /> Human Services—Sign Request for Candlelight Vigil: <br /> Louise Patrick, Mashpee Human Services Council was present to request <br /> the Board approve the placement of signage at the rotary, Town Hall, and <br /> the Mashpee/Falmouth line to announce the upcoming Candlelight Vigil. <br /> A total of eight signs are requested for the "Elizabeth Lee" Peace Award <br /> in conjunction with the Mashpee Candlelight Vigil to promote peace and <br /> safety in the community. The event is scheduled on October 25, 2000. <br /> All members of the Board of Selectmen were invited to attend. A <br /> brochure of the ceremony was distributed. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to approve the sign request of <br /> the Mashpee Human Services Council for a Candlelight Vigil. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
