9
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
October 30, 2000
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
DiMaggio Complaint Report: (continued)
The Selectmen agreed to revisit the above referenced issue on November
13, 2000. At this time, a schedule of activities, target dates, and present
status will be further reviewed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Acceptance of Bid—Aerial Apparatus:
Fire Chief, George Baker was present to recommend the Board accept the
Aerial Apparatus Platform bid utilizing a construction inspection and
milestone payment program to reduce the purchase price of the vehicle.
Motion made by Selectman Taylor to accept.the bid from Pierce
Manufacturing, Inc. of Wisconsin for the Aerial Apparatus Platform
in the amount of$636,728.00 as recommended.
Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Fred Blythe—Ballfields Presentation:
Fred Blythe presented a detailed description of Mashpee sites reviewed
as potential athletic ballfields. Sites located at the High School, Sampsons
Mill Road and the Keeter property were considered. It was noted that the
Local Comprehensive Plan has designated the referenced sites for future
athletic playing fields.
The recommendation of the committee designated the Mashpee High
School site as the preferred land selection for athletic ballfields.. Several
advantages include a large town-owned site adjacent to existing playing
fields for shared use and the aspect of a central location. Traffic
signalization and site utilities are existing as is septic treatment.
Two soccer fields and two football/lacrosse fields are envisioned in the
initial proposal. Future site considerations include a pool, hockey rink and
a community building.
