Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 30, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Sustainability Presentation: <br /> Susan Kadar of The Cape Cod Center for Sustainability was present to <br /> discuss the indicators that could prove as useful tools to the Town as <br /> planning instruments. <br /> Ms. Kadar distributed brochures promoting linkage between economic, <br /> environmental and social issues in order to build a strong community. <br /> Economic indicators include; the Housing Affordability Gap, Self <br /> Sufficiency Standard-Living Wage,,Employment and Payroll by Industry <br /> and Tourism. Environmental aspects include Drinking Water Quality, <br /> Acres of Land Developed, and Acres of Land Protected as Open Space, <br /> Waste Generated, Recycled, Composted, Landfills, Incinerated and Traffic <br /> Congestion. Social Issues include the Percent of Population Registered to <br /> Vote, Percent Voting in Town Elections, Population Enrolled v. Not <br /> Enrolled in Health Care Plans, Substance Abuse and the High School <br /> Dropout Rate. <br /> The information will be forwarded to the Town Planner for review. <br /> DiMaggio Colp laint Report: <br /> The Board of Selectmen met with regulatory officials of the Town for the <br /> purpose of reviewing the recent complaint relative to DiMaggio's garage <br /> and related bus usage at 135 Main Street, Mashpee. <br /> In response to the complaint, a number of correspondence memorandums <br /> were received and discussed with the Board of Selectmen. It was noted <br /> that the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment <br /> conducted a site inspection of Mike's Service Station. The Department of <br /> Environmental Protection(DEP) is also involved in the review process. <br />
