4
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
November 13, 2000
Correspondence from Board of Health:
Correspondence was received from the Board of Health dated November
6, 2000 requesting that the Town perform air quality tests in each room of
the lower level of the Town Hall facility within ten days of the
memorandum.
In response to the above request, the Barnstable County Health
Department will be requested to conduct a site visit. In addition, the
content of the tile adhesive will be reviewed. If testing is warranted for air
quality, the facility will be tested within the requested time frame.
OLD BUSINESS:
DiMaggio Status Report:
The Selectmen reviewed several memorandums of correspondence related
to Mike's Service Station located at 135 Main Street, Mashpee. Veronica
Warden, Assistant Health Agent discussed the re-inspection of the subject
property as reviewed by the Health Department, Building Department and
Fire & Rescue Department.
The Board of Health has set a date of January 1, 2001 for the operator to
correct pending environmental matters associated to the service station.
Two main issues include the ongoing investigation as to the location of the
55-gallon paint drums that were previously stored on site by a company
renting a garage bay and with respect to the open monitoring well located
in front of the building.
i
The Selectmen agreed to authorize Fire Chief George Baker, as Hazardous
Waste Coordinator for the Town supervise the clean-up process to ensure
that Mr. DiMaggio is adequately addressing the issues on the property.
The Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) will be requested to
conduct a site inspection on all clean up and remediation issues.
1
