Page 4 <br /> elections. Ms. King stated that the Town Clerk used to pay these <br /> people $25 per day for their assistance, and that now they are paid <br /> hourly. Mr. Whritenour explained that there is three elections <br /> scheduled for next year and that the Town Clerk has not paid them <br /> a flat rate in years. <br /> CONSERVATION <br /> Mr. Vaccaro stated that the Selectmen were only recommending a part <br /> time conservation agent rather than the requested full time agent. <br /> Mr. Goggin asked to make sure that this position stated that it <br /> would be less than 1 ,000 hours per year with no benefits. Mr. <br /> Vaccaro told Ms. Sullivan, liaison, to work it out with Mr. Sherman <br /> so that he would know what wording to place in the Article. <br /> PLANNING BOARD <br /> Mr. Whritenour stated that the assistant planners were originally <br /> placed at the wrong step. These amounts contained in this budget <br /> reflect the correct step. <br /> TOWN HALL EXPENSE <br /> Mr. Goggin asked about the $40,000 increase? Mr. Vaccaro answered <br /> that the Town Hall building has been taken over. If the School <br /> Superintendent remains in the building, then something would need <br /> to be worked out, according to Mr. Vaccaro. He stated that the <br /> building has to be budgeted. Mr. Goggin asked about the $15,000 in <br /> Town Hall Capital? The answer was that this money is for a copier. <br /> Ms. Caffyn asked if leasing is an option? Mr. Whritenour stated <br /> that leasing benefits were not that great. He felt that it would <br /> be useful for the Town to buy it outright with a maintenance <br /> contract. <br /> 53RD WEER <br /> Mr. Goggin noticed a decrease in this amount recommended by the <br /> Selectmen. Ms. Caffyn stated that it had been cut slightly. Mr. <br /> Goggin mentioned that the Finance Committee felt this was <br /> acceptable. <br /> POLICE <br /> Mr. Goggin mentioned that the Finance Committee had discussed that <br /> one year ago, two police officers were made sergeants and that the <br /> police officers' positions were filled. Was it really essential to <br /> request two additional? Mr. Dunivan also mentioned that one year <br /> ago, SPos were also promoted. Mr. Dunivan had a copy of police <br /> incidents which he issued to the Selectmen. Mr. Dunivan asked the <br /> Selectmen to explain why two more police officers were essential if <br /> the number of incidents had decreased? Mr. Dunivan also questioned <br /> the $100,000 for community policing. Mr. Vaccaro stated that it <br /> J <br />
