Page 5 <br /> was the Selectmen who instructed the Police Department to go this <br /> route. Mr. Costa mentioned a ten year plan for the Police <br /> Department. He stated that he would get a copy to the Finance <br /> Committee for their review. <br /> There was a question about the leasing of the police cruisers. - Mr. <br /> Vaccaro mentioned that Sergeant Clancy was planning to visit the <br /> Finance Committee to review their proposal. The Selectmen felt <br /> that it was very good and they would recommend. Mr. Whritenour <br /> also mentioned that Chief Frye indicated he needed a computer <br /> upgrade. Mr. Dunivan, stated that in his opinion, funding portable <br /> radios would be a better recommendation. He indicated that the <br /> patrolmen given the choice of the two, would prefer the portable <br /> radios, rather than the computer upgrade. Mr. Whritenour said that <br /> he would speak to Chief Frye about this information. <br /> Mr. Goggin asked about Dispatch and if this amount reflects the <br /> increase? The answer was yes it maintains staffing level. It was <br /> asked where is the police contract? Mr. Vaccaro answered that it <br /> is still being negotiated. Mr. Vaccaro informed the boards that <br /> their contract expired in PY92 and this is the second year without <br /> a contract. <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> Mr. Whritenour stated that the Selectmen recommended funding from <br /> the Fire Department through ambulance Receipts of $18,000 medical <br /> supplies plus a defibrillator for $12,000, totalling $30,000. Mr. <br /> Dunivan inquired about capital . Mr. Whritenour explained that the <br /> Selectmen decided to fund the Department $17,000 for a four wheel <br /> drive vehicle. Mr. Costa mentioned that the Selectmen did not <br /> agree to provide a vehicle for the Animal Control Officer, and he <br /> felt that they should have. <br /> Mr. Goggin asked what a surplus vehicle was? Mr. Whritenour <br /> answered that the School has a surplus vehicle and by procedure, <br /> the Town has to offer it to another department. It was the <br /> Executive Secretary's opinion that it should be given to Leisure <br /> Services. <br /> Mr. Dunivan stated that it was his understanding that the Police <br /> Department wished to lease 7 vehicles for the Police Department and <br /> that they would replace 9 vehicles. He asked about the $7 ,000 for <br /> the jaws of life? Mr. Whritenour stated that the Fire Department <br /> would try to do this in stages from their Operating and Maintenance <br /> Account. <br /> BUILDING INSPECTOR <br /> There was an increase of 18 hours for an assistant building <br /> inspector. Mr. Whritenour stated that there was a minor increase <br /> in the account for Sealer of Weights and Measures. Mr. Goggin <br />
