Page 4
BUILDING INSPECTOR
Ms. King indicated that the Committee level funded the wiring and
plumbing inspectors. The difference in expenses was certification
and typewriters. Ms. Greelish believed that there were typewriters
available through surplus. Mr. Vaccaro stated that they would not
have recommended a purchase of a typewriter.
HARBORMASTER
The Finance Committee is not recommending full time status.
HERRING WARDEN
The Finance Committee recommended level funding expenses.
SHELLFISH
The Finance Committee recommended reducing the position to part
time status. Ms. Sullivan stated that his major responsibilities
in the winter were patrolling. It was her opinion that it was a
lot of hours for patrolling when the waters are frozen. She
believed that Mr. York said that there were not many incidents of
for fining. Mr. Vaccaro felt that the Finance Committee should
understand that it was the goal of the Selectmen to increase
tourism and keep the shellfish stocked, the beaches attractive,
etc. This is why they believe a full time Harbormaster and
Shellfish Warden is needed. Ms. Sullivan stated that the voters
could decide. Mr. Vaccaro indicated that the Selectmen look to the
Finance Committee to help them implement their policies not to make
their own.
DPW
The Finance Committee was recommending $1,799 less in salaries.
Ms. Greelish indicated that the Finance Committee did not agree
with his step and grade increases and asked the selectmen to
review. Mr. Vaccaro mentioned that he would make sure that they
were in accordance with the PAP. The difference of $2,000 in
expenses is out of state travel. Mr. Vaccaro indicated that it can
be in the budget now and does not have to be a separate line item.
BOARD OF HEALTH
Ms. Greelish indicated that the Finance Committee agreed to give
them what they asked for. The Selectmen agreed to increase their
figure by $2,450.
COUNCIL ON AGING
There was a difference of $1,000. The Finance Committee agreed to
recommend the same figure as the Selectmen $13,623.
