Page 3
not want the teachers to suffer but felt that the Teachers' Union
should bring a grievance suit against Dr. DeMoura.
Ms. King mentioned that she would be prepared to discuss the
$184,000 which the Committee was sure would be brought up at Town
meeting.
The Committee discussed a pre town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday,
April 19th at the Senior Center. It is a joint meeting with the
Mashpee Taxpayers' Association. The meeting will begin at 7:00PM
and the public is invited to attend. Ms. King suggested that the
Finance Committee lay everything out. Mr. Goggin suggested that
the Committee make statements, but not go into any elaborate
explanations. Ms. King agreed that they should talk about their
recommendations but not go into any great detail.
Mr. Ferriday asked Mr. Goggin if he would be available on Wednesday
at noon to speak at the New Seabury Men's Club? Mr. Goggin could
not attend the next Wednesday, but perhaps Wednesday the 27th. Mr.
Ferriday was going to get the details to Mr. Goggin. The Finance Committee agreed and
recommended adding $53,000 to the Selectmen's recommendation of
$35,000. They were also recommending a dump truck and the back hoe
lease which totalled $140,028, front end loader $88,000 included.
Mr. Goggin also mentioned that he received the lease proposal for
police cruisers from Sgt. Clancy and that the Finance Committee
could go through it.
Mr. Ferriday spoke about the Harbormaster's truck. He informed the
Committee that last year a new engine had been placed in truck as
well as new brakes. Mr. Ferriday felt that the truck now should
only need a new fuel pump and a carburetor. It was his opinion
that the truck was usable, and that the truck should not be
discarded with a new engine just recently installed. Ms. Sullivan
was going to speak to the Harbormaster about this. Mr. Goggin
stated that he would review the police cruiser lease.
Ms. Greelish mentioned that she would like the Committee to release
to the press that $40,000 was not being not spent on the Davis
School and is being used for the School's budget and that $40,000
not being used for transportation is in the school's budget,
totalling $650,000 more than last fiscal year. Ms. Greelish also
suggested releasing the FY95 Finance Committee Projected budget to
