Dr. DeMoura <br /> also agreed that he would like to have an amount before the <br /> holidays. <br /> Mr. Ferriday suggested that the Finance Committee decide on a <br /> meeting date and invite all the department heads to that meeting. <br /> Mr. Ferriday believed that this way, each department head would <br /> know exactly how big the financial pie is, and what other <br /> departments are expecting. Ms. Mills also suggested that the <br /> Finance Committee might take turns with big departments and their <br /> capital needs by fiscal year, for example, the DPW might have their <br /> capital fiscal year and then the following year it would be the <br /> fire department, etc. Mr. Goggin mentioned that the Finance <br /> Committee is trying to plan for the future capital needs by setting <br /> aside money in a Capital Replacement Account. <br /> Both the Finance Committee and the School Committee agreed to meet <br /> again in September. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September <br /> 27, 1994 at 7:OOPM. The School Committee left the meeting at <br /> 9:OOPM. <br /> Dan Goggin suggested that the Finance Committee meet with Tom <br /> Fudala, Town Planner, prior to their meeting with the School <br />• Committee again to discuss demographics. Mr. Ferriday stated that <br /> he believed Dr. DeMoura should be there. The Finance Committee <br /> will meet again on August 16, 1994 at 7:OOPM and. will invite Dr. <br /> DeMoura, as well as Mr. Fudala to attend. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Dan Goggin mentioned that James Vaccaro had called him prior to <br /> this meeting to discuss the selection process for the police chief. <br /> Mr. Vaccaro stated that it was the intention of the Board of <br /> Selectmen to hire a consultant to do a search for the new chief. <br /> Mr. Goggin stated that he told Mr. Vaccaro to first deplete the <br /> Selectmen's budget before requesting extra money from the Reserve <br /> Fund. Mr. Goggin stated that the amount in question was $8,500, <br /> He told Mr. Vaccaro that the Finance Committee would consider this <br /> a budget exception if the Selectmen's budget falls short next year. <br /> Mr. Goggin also mentioned that the Selectmen created a pay increase <br /> for the new chief. Chief Frye will be retiring in January with 300 <br /> accrued sick and vacation time. Mr. Goggin requested that Ms. <br /> Farren be contacted and asked to provide a list of each Town <br /> employee under the PAP and include the amount of accrued sick and <br /> vacation time they have. <br /> Mr. Goggin also stated that Mr. Vaccaro mentioned $2 ,500 for the <br /> consultant for the Personnel Department. Mr. Goggin told him the <br /> same thing. To first deplete the money in Legal and Engineering <br /> and then come to the Finance Committee for a Reserve Fund request <br /> when depleted. <br />
