4
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 8, 1999
APPOINTMENT'S AND HEARINGS:
Budget Review:
The Board of Selectmen met with several Department Heads for the
purpose of reviewing the FY 2000 budget.
Town Clerk:
Deborah Dami, the Town Clerk was present to request the Board approve
additional funding to the salary/wage account for the purpose of increasing
the hours of the sticker sales office.
Temporary seasonal support is necessary to assist with increased transfer
station and beach sticker sales. The office cannot function on a part-time
basis informed Mrs. Dami who noted that over 200,000 stickers were
issued last year.
Selectman Caffyn recommended the office consider sticker sales for more
than one year. The issue will be brought before the Board of Health for
consideration.
In addition,Mrs. Dami requested the Selectmen increase the salary/wage
of the Town Clerk to rectify the present system. The position is one of the
lowest paid department head positions in the Town of Mashpee. Mrs.
Dami indicated that she conducted a survey of comparable towns in
population with Mashpee. The FY2000 salary/wage request is $42,840.
Mr. Whritenour, Town Administrator advised the Board increase the
salary/wage to$38,340 to conform to Massachusetts Municipal
Association recommendations.
