7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 8, 1999 <br /> Buget Review: <br /> Police: <br /> The Chief of Police requested that a full-time clerical position be added to <br /> support police administration. The position has been requested several <br /> times in the past. <br /> In addition,there is a vacancy in Dispatch. The filling of this position will <br /> decrease overtime costs. Chief Przybylek also requested the Selectmen <br /> approve the employment of an additional police officer. The vacancy has <br /> existed since 7/98, and 75% if the position is federal grant funded. <br /> Chief Przybylek indicated that he has located additional hours in an effort <br /> to reduce the budget although the reduction would result in the removal of <br /> several educational activities, and firearms and licensing programs that his <br /> department is currently providing. <br /> Fire: <br /> Chief Baker requested the Board approve two firefighter positions to help <br /> reduce overtime costs as a result of the increased workload in his <br /> department. <br /> DPW: <br /> Two additional full-time skilled labor positions are requested to support <br /> the Department of Public Works. <br /> Engineer: <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to review betterment fees and actual <br /> engineering costs to reconsider the position of Engineer. <br /> Health: <br /> The Board of Health was requested to review the purchase of sticker sales <br /> on a biyearly basis. In addition,they were requested to improve methods <br /> of recycling, and attempt to offer improved services to the community. <br />
