I� <br /> 3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 15, 1999 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing—Tax Classification_: (continued) <br /> Mr. Bailey discussed the four choices relating to the manner in which the <br /> town is taxed. The four choices are as follows: Split Tax Rate, Small <br /> Business Exemption, Open Space Discount, and Residential Exemption. <br /> Vice-Chairman Leveille opened the hearing to solicit comment. <br /> Dr. Elizabeth Petti suggested the town consider having two rates because <br /> of the increased growth. In response, Mr. Bailey recommended to revisit <br /> ` the issue during the summer months to allow the area small businesses the <br /> opportunity to solicit comment to the proposal. <br /> At this time, Mr. Bailey recommended the Board maintain a single tax rate <br /> as in previous years. <br /> Being no further comment, the Board motioned to close the Public <br /> Hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Marsters, Selectman Taylor absent. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to: <br /> A. Adopt a residential exemption of One (1) <br /> B. Not allow an Open Space Discount <br /> C. Not allow a "small business exemption" <br /> D. Not allow a "residential exemption" <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Marsters, Selectman Taylor absent. <br /> Roll Call Vote: David, yes John,yes Fred, yes <br /> Kenneth,absent Wayne, absent <br />
