The
location is 9 Mariner Lane boat slip in Great River. He has met with Rick York to develop an
acceptable proposal. There are soft shell clams in this slip area but the middle area of the slip is a
soft mucky bottom. He does not keep a boat in the slip.
Has anyone taken a bull rake to the center of the area?
Rich York said the center is muck with no shellfish. This is subject to a survey by DMF.
Question. Is this experimental or is to make money? Mr. Sampson said it is to make money. He
feels they are making maximum use of the small area. He will not prevent anyone from taking
softshell clams from the area. The oysters will be in traps and can't be easily disrupted.
The Shellfish Commission recommends this proposal.
