His proposed location is 156 Monomoscoy Rd in Great River. <br /> He explained he is interested in aquaculture, thinks it is a great idea and is excited about it. <br /> There are no shellfish in this location. <br /> Question. when do you fell you will realize a profit from this? It will beat least 3 years. <br /> ** Selectmen Marsters made a motion to close the public hearing. Selectmen Caffyn <br /> seconded the motion. All members were in favor 3-0.** <br /> ** Selectmen Caffyn made a motion to approve Morris CassaneHi's aquaculture license <br /> request for up to 10 years, subject to adoption of revised shellfish aquaculture <br /> regulations. Selectmen Marsters seconded the motion. All members were in favor 3- <br /> 0** <br /> I <br /> 5._Robert Sampson: was present. His proposed location is 398 Monomoscoy Rd in the boat slip. <br /> He explained the has been a commercial fisherman on the Cape for 35 years. He appreciates the <br /> concerns about giving up a traditional source of shellfish. He will not take any anyone's source <br /> of income. He will not keep anyone out of his boat slip. He feels this is something that will <br /> benefit the town as well as himself during his last years of shellfishing. <br /> Rick York has surveyed the area and it is just muck and seaweed. Next to this area softshell <br /> clams do set and grow. <br /> Question; how many more boat slips will we see shellfish grants in? <br /> Rick York said the Harbormaster has asked for a moratorium on shellfish grants and he is not <br /> opposed to it. Presently there are 10 grants in town. He would support a moratorium to assess the <br /> performance of those grants. <br /> Jim Hanks said the Waterways Commission has not had the opportunity to review Sampson <br /> proposal. <br /> ** Selectmen Marsters made a motion to close the public hearing. Selectmen Caffyn <br /> seconded the motion. All members were in favor 3-0.** <br /> ** Selectmen Caffyn made a motion to approve Robert Sampson' aquaculture license <br /> request for up to 10 years, subject to adoption of revised shellfish aquaculture <br /> regulations. Selectmen Marsters seconded the motion. All members were in favor 3- <br /> 0** <br /> Bob Whritenour explained the Board has correspondence from the Harbormaster regarding a <br /> moratorium on shellfish grants. The intention was to bring it forward with the revised <br /> regulations. The Board can address it tonight or put it on another agenda. <br /> Harbormaster Perry Ellis was present and explained aquaculture is becoming big business and he <br /> feels the town should be properly prepared. <br /> ** Selectmen Caffyn made a motion to adopt a I year moratorium on issuing of shellfish <br />
