Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 7 <br /> April 27, 1998 <br /> AP-EMIDENIS <br /> Lake Mmmment,,.Committee: <br /> Several members of the Lake Management Committee and Conservation <br /> Commission were present to review the progress on the Mashpee Pond <br /> water level management program/permit, and to discuss general lake management <br /> activities with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> It was noted that James McGonagle, Chairman of the Lake Management <br /> Committee was unable to attend the meeting as a result of short notice, and <br /> prior commitments. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the appropriate role of the Lake Management <br /> Committee. Mr. Whritenour, Executive Secretary indicated that the committee is <br /> encouraged to monitor and advise members of the Board of Selectmen on all <br /> aspects of the plan while serving as an advisory committee to the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> All members of the Lake Management Committee shall be cognizant of <br /> meetings in advance that shall be duly posted with the Office of the Town Clerk, <br /> and held at the Mashpee Town Hall. <br /> Mr. Whritenour added that it is critical that all parties work together to address <br /> the aspect of pond level management. Selectman Frye commended the efforts of <br /> Mr. McGonagle,the Lake Management Committee, Conservation Commission, <br /> and area residents. <br /> Bob Sherman, Conservation Agent presented a memo to the Board dated <br /> April 24, 1998 relative to this matter. It was noted that the Conservation <br /> Commission is awaiting written comment from the Mass. Natural Heritage <br /> and Endangered Species Program. <br /> The Natural &Endangered Species Program has expressed reservations <br /> about potential impacts to rare species in shallow areas of the Pond. In other <br /> business, the Conservation is working to develop a job description for the <br /> monitoring/water-level adjustment position. <br />
