Board of Selectmen
Minutes 4
July 6, 1998
PUBLIC MEV ENT'
Ted Lewis, a member of the Board of Directors of the Briarwood
Association expressed concern to the dangerous intersection that
exists on Route 151 between Currier Road and Ashumet Road.
Mr. Lewis commended Selectman Caffyn for her efforts to delay the
Town of Falmouth's action to close Ashumet Road until the residents of
the Town of Mashpee have had an opportunity to express their opinion.
Mr. Lewis recommended the Board meet with officials from the Town of
Falmouth to discuss the interests of Briarwood residents living in Mashpee.
In addition, the Board should consider a no left turn at the intersection of
Ashumet and Route 151 or to go forward with a turn at the north end of
Ashumet Road where it intersects suggested Mr. Lewis.
As a compromise, Ashumet going north intersecting with Route 151
going one way is a method of egress informed Mr. Lewis who also suggested
that signalization be considered.
Bruce Sparrow, a Falmouth resident residing on Ashumet Road strongly
opposed the closing of Ashumet Road. He noted that other roads within the
Town of Falmouth intersect Route 151 at a similar angle.
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARING
Public He - Shellfish Aquaculture RegWations and License e
Selectman Marsters opened the Public Hearing on the Shellfish Aquaculture
Regulations and License Procedure Revisions.
Selectman Leveille stepped down for the above discussion.
Shellfish Constable,Richard York presented an addenda to the license
procedure reflected under Step 48 to read: Within a thirty-day period
from the date that the license was ism, the applicant must pay a fee to
the Town Clerk for recording and for reimbursement for the cost incurred
by the Town.
It was noted that the $5.00 transaction fee is governed by State law.
