Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 2 <br /> August 24, 1998 <br /> APPOINT TENTS AND-HEARINGS.- <br /> Waterways Commission re: MashVee River LkVdaing Project: (continued) <br /> Dredging, utilizing the Barnstable County Dredge is the least expensive option <br /> identified to cost$4.14 per cubic yard. Segments A through D-1 have been <br /> estimated to cost$60,000. The fees do not include engineering and disposal. <br /> Trucking is estimated to cost an additional $5.00 per cubic yard, or$133,000. <br /> Figures have not been obtained for upland disposal informed Mr_ Hanks. <br /> Options for disposal include, the landfill, and de-watering sites such as the <br /> Stenberg parcel, Mashpee River woodlands, and Popponesset Spit. <br /> If approved by the Board,the Waterways Commission will move forward to <br /> obtain definitive cost estimates to obtain Town Meeting warrant funding in May. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the recommended approach <br /> of the Waterways Commission regarding the scope of dredging to be <br /> performed on the Mashpee River. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> Route 28 Pedestrian Sidewalk-Letter of SupMrt: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to place the above topic as an agenda <br /> item of discussion. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Greg Taylor,Director of Public Works indicated that he received plans on this <br /> date to widen Route 28 to Donna's Lane. The Massachusetts Highway <br /> Department(MHD) has approved plans for a pedestrian sidewalk, an area of <br /> 1.4 miles or 2300 meters from the Town line to Donna's Lane. <br /> The program will provide a safer Route 28 for pedestrians and cyclists. It was <br /> noted that Mr. Taylor, and Representative Cahir were instrumental in obtaining <br /> state approval and funding. Commitment on financing should be obtained in <br /> early October. Additional information is expected to follow. <br />
