BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 3 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MON DAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1990 <br /> Applicants for the Cape Cod Commission: <br /> Mr. Jacobs was not particularly in favor of the act in the <br /> beginning. He felt it was being pushed upon the area. After thought, <br /> he Felt the Cape needs a plan and a -direction. He is willing to spend <br /> the time with the Commission. <br /> Mr. Jacobs is a consultant with New Seabury for their Architectural <br /> Review Committee. He is a paid consultant. When asked if there was <br /> a conflict of interest, he responded by asking the committee members <br /> if it would be necessary to step down. Such projects includethe <br /> Bufflehead Bay project. <br /> Selectman Lawrence asked how he envisions the Cape in the 90' s. <br /> Mr. Jacobs would like to be involved in a plan for the Cape, but <br /> thinks it is too early to determine what the Cape wants. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb asked what his input would be on Mashpee' s <br /> opinions. Mr. Jacobs feels he would listen and be responsive to what <br /> people say. <br /> Mr. Jacobs has not attended any regional policy meetings, but <br /> would be available to meet with the Commission during regular business <br /> hours. <br /> 8 : 05 p.m. Vincent Lopez : <br /> Mr. Lopez met with the Board of Selectmen to discuss a one day <br /> permit for a liquor license at the Rod and Gun Club in Mashpee . Two <br /> people are retiring from the DPW. <br /> Mr. Lopez would like the date changed from October 13th to October <br /> the loth for this function. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb noted the land has been sold. The club has <br /> asked for a series of one day licenses until it is sold. <br /> Selectman Lawrence notes that certain groups are getting around <br /> the liquor license regulations by having certain functions. He is not, <br /> against the Rod and Gun Club, but certain groups not paying the <br /> license fees. <br /> This may involve possible litigation. Town Counsel will be advised <br /> to render an opinion. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to grant a liquor <br /> license permit to the Rod and Gun Club on October the loth for the <br /> retirement party. Selectman Gottlieb seconded the motion. The Board <br /> votes in Favor of the license 4-0 with Selectman- Lawrence stepping <br /> down from voting on this issue. <br /> Vincent Lopez re: Gate on Whitings Road: <br /> Mr. Lopez expressed his concern with the closing of Whiting' s Rd. <br /> and other gates around the town. Along with his fellow club members, <br /> they use the land to hunt and fish. He has offered to help clean-up <br /> the debris with the possible use of DPW equipment. <br /> Mr. Virgilio is concerned with the liability to the town and <br /> Selectman Gottlieb feels town vehicles may not be the best way to <br /> handle this objective. <br />
