�s BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2 <br /> ' MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, DECEMBER 17t 1990 <br /> Public Water '- Great Neck Road South: <br /> Following Selectman Gottlieb' s suggestion, Chairman Carter has <br /> asked Kevin Harrington to obtain the facts and figures of the cost <br /> factors involved. <br /> Conditioned upon the figures of the lesser amount for water, <br /> Selectman Jacobson made the motion to approve the reopening for <br /> water to the residents of Monomoscoy Island and Okway Bay. <br /> Selectman Lawrence seconded the motion. The decision is unanimous <br /> with the Board. <br /> Grievance of Gail McDonald: <br /> Serving as Hearing Officer, Joseph Reardon has recommended the. <br /> grievance be upheld and the decision of the department reversed with <br /> instructions to pay Ms. McDonald a regular days pay for the Columbus <br /> Day holiday. Section 2a is applicable to dispatchers and the contract <br /> language in 2a and 2b need not be ammended. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to support the Hearing <br /> Officer' s recommendation to uphold the grievance complaint of Gail <br /> McDonald. <br /> Selectman Lawrence seconded the motion. The Board votes in a <br /> unanimous decision to uphold the grievance of Ms. McDonald. <br /> Grievance of Jean Lundquist; <br /> Hearing Officer Reardon has recommended the grievance appeal be <br /> dismissed of Jean Lundquist who smokes at her desk. She feels she is <br /> being discriminated against. <br /> The Building Inspector has determined that her office is not a <br /> private office and the grievance does not involve race, creed, color <br /> or religion. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to recommend the dismissal <br /> of Jean Lundquist' s grievance as recommended by the Hearing Officer. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb seconded the motion. The Board votes unanimously <br /> in favor. Selectman Gottlieb would also like to upgrade the enforce- <br /> ment of no smoking in public buildings. <br /> Memo from the Fire Chief requesting to fill vacant position: <br /> Based upon the new guidelines set forth by the Selectmen, the <br /> request to fill the vacant position in the Fire Department was subitted <br /> by Chief Ridgeway for the Board' s consideration. <br /> Selectman Jacobson feels it would cost more in overtime funds than <br /> to fill the vacancy in the department. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to accept the request <br /> to fill the position of Provisional Firefighter. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb seconded the motion. The decision of the Board <br /> is unanimous. <br />
