-2 - <br /> A . Background Check : Employees must be of good moral character and <br /> without crimina record'. Background checks will be performed . <br /> ( Procedure is to be done by the Police Department and sent over to <br /> Personnel Board with reasons why candidate is not being recommended ) . <br /> B . Written Examination : All candidates must pass the written examination <br /> with a score of 75% or greater in order to proceed further in the <br /> examination process . The written examination is a "General Knowledge " <br /> multiple choice instrument, designed to test applicant ' s knowledge in <br /> the following areas : <br /> *Verbal Comprehension <br /> *Memory for Relations <br /> *Memory for Ideas <br /> *Problem Sensitivity <br /> 1 . Special Note : All applicants must bring a "picture " form of. identi- <br /> fication ( i .e . driver ' s license ) with' th.em in order to be admitted into <br /> any examination test . <br /> (This procedure is to be conducted by the Personnel Board ) <br /> C . Oral Interview : Applicants who have successfully completed written exam <br /> will be asked to appear before the Personnel Board and Chief of Police <br /> and/or Deputy Police Chief for an oral interview . Applicants will be <br /> assigned a specific time and date for the interview . All interviews <br /> will be held at the Mashpee Town Hall on Great Neck Road North in Mashpee . <br /> Questions asked will be the same for all candidates .and will be of a <br /> general nature . All candidates must pass the oral interview with a score <br /> of 75% or greater in order to proceed in the examination process . <br /> {Questions to be - obtained by the Police Department ) <br /> Both the written examination and the oral interview must be passed with a <br /> score of 75% or greater in order to be considered for employment . The written <br /> . examination will count for 50% of the final score and the oral interview for <br /> 50% . <br /> D . Final Selection Criteria : <br /> The final steps in the hiring process are an employment interview with <br /> the Police Chief , a physical test , a full background check , psychological <br /> examination and recommendations to the Board of Selectmen . <br /> The. Police Chief ' s interview will be general in nature and designed to be <br /> of an informative (rather than specific ) nature . The purpose of this in- <br /> terview is to evaluate the candidate ' s potential as a Police Officer in <br /> terms of his understanding of the job requirements , job stresses , and job <br /> demands , as well as to explain the pay , benefits , obligations , and re= <br /> sponsibilities of the job . An oral job offer may be made at this time , <br /> subject to subsequent confirmation/appointment to the position . <br /> The physical examination , following the Police Chief ' s interview , will <br /> be scheduled with the Town ' s Physician . The physician must certify that <br /> the candidate is in good physical condition and fully capable of perform- <br /> ing the job of Police Officer . To protect both the candidate and the <br /> Town of Mashpee , the physical 4 xamination will include a stress test . <br />
